This Privacy Policy applies to the UK charity, The Wall of Answered Prayer, a charity registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, number 1173708 (“Eternal Wall”, “we”, “us”, “our”). Our registered business address is Eternal Wall Of Answered Prayer, The Manor, Coleshill, Birmingham B46 1DL.

Eternal Wall is a data controller for the purposes of the UK GDPR, and is registered with the UK Information Commissioner, registration number ZB038632.

How do we collect Personal Data?

Directly (in person, by telephone)

We obtain personal data directly from individuals, including obtaining personal data from individuals who provide us with their testimony in person or via telephone.

From other organisations

We obtain personal data indirectly about individuals from a variety of sources. This may include the receipt of your testimony from other partner organisations e.g. CBN, Premier or via a donation platform such as Stewardship, CAF etc.

Online

We collect information about you that you give to us via our website(s) or our social media pages or by contacting us via email. This will include the sharing of your testimony, making a donation or signing up to receive updates and information.

Cookies

We automatically collect anonymous/statistical data via cookies when you visit our website(s). Information about the cookies, their purpose and your consent to read or access information on your device is presented via a consent management platform (CookieYes) whenever you visit our site(s).

What information do we collect?

We only collect information which is necessary for the purposes listed below. This includes:

• Your full name
• Email address
• Postal address
• Details of your answered prayer
• The name of the church that you attend
• Telephone number (in case we need to contact you in relation to your donation or answered prayer submission).
• Your marketing and other preferences

We collect this information when you provide us with answered prayers, sign up to receive our newsletters or donate.

Your textual answered prayers will be pseudonymised i.e., only Eternal Wall staff with elevated security privileges will be able to associate your answered prayers with personal data you provide at the time of submission. The publicly available database of textual answered prayers will ALWAYS be anonymised. Be aware that if you share images (pictures or video) alongside your answered prayer, these may be used to identify you in the publicly available database.

How do we use your information?

Answered Prayers

When you submit an answered prayer, it will become part of the global digital archive where it will be preserved as a permanent resource for use in research, publications, education, lectures, broadcasting, and be available on the internet.

The publicly available archive will contain first name references with all other identifiable personal data anonymised in your submitted answered prayer. We retain a link between the answered prayers and the information we gain at the time of your submission. This ‘link’, also called a ‘pseudonym’, is a special code that only a limited number of authorised people at Eternal Wall can use to reveal the full identity of the contributor.

This pseudonymous link is used by Eternal Wall to ensure we can fulfil our obligations to safeguard those who proved answered prayers, to manage the provision of ‘brick certificates’, and to ensure we can support a data subject with their rights and freedoms.

Promoting our Christian aims and ideals

We would like to send you updates about our aims and ideals, and those of our Christian partner organisations, using the contact details you have provided.

If we ask for your consent to contact you in this way, you will always have a simple way to withdraw your consent and stop future marketing correspondence.

In some case, we may use our charitable interests to reach out to you via the contact information provided e.g., if you donate to the charity, volunteer, or request information about our work. We will always provide you with a means to opt-out of this marketing at the time we collect your information and in each subsequent communication.

You can always unsubscribe from any of our marketing by simply clicking on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email, via this link (click to unsubscribe), or by contacting us.

Supporter profiling

We may use information about your engagement with us (such as whether you have donated, volunteered, or opened our emails) to tailor the communications we send you. This helps us ensure that the information we share is relevant to you. This activity is carried out based on our legitimate interests. You can ask us at any time note to use your data in this way by contacting us.

Donations

We do not process or hold your payment information. We will keep your name, email address and postal address on file so that we can send you information in relation to your donation and as described above.

The security of your personal information

• We undertake an analysis of the risks presented by our processing and use this to assess the appropriate level of security we need to put in place.
• We have put in place basic technical controls such as those specified by established frameworks e.g., Cyber Essentials. When deciding what measures to implement, we take account of the state of the art and costs of implementation.
• We have an information security policy (or equivalent) and take steps to make sure the policy is implemented. We make sure that we regularly review our information security policies and measures and, where necessary, improve them. We use encryption and/or pseudonymisation where it is appropriate to do so.
• We train our staff on the requirements of confidentiality, integrity and availability for the personal data we process.
• We make sure that we can restore access to personal data in the event of any incidents.
• We conduct regular testing and reviews of our measures to ensure they remain effective, and act on the results of those tests where they highlight areas for improvement.
• Where appropriate, we implement measures that adhere to an approved code of conduct or certification mechanism.
• We ensure that any data processor we use also implements appropriate technical and organisational measures.

How long will your information be held?

If we collect your personal information, the length of time we retain it is determined by the purpose for which we use that data and our legal obligations. We do not retain personal data in an identifiable format for longer than is necessary.

We may need your personal data to establish, bring or defend legal claims, in which case we will retain your personal information for 7 years after the last occasion on which we have used your personal information in one of the ways specified above.

If you are concerned about us holding your data, you have a qualified right of erasure, which our DPO will be able to assist you with.

Where we hold your contact details for direct marketing purposes, we will retain these for as long as you remain an active supporter. If you unsubscribe or object to receiving marketing, we will retain limited data to ensure we do not contact you again, and for no other purpose.

Transfers to other countries and safeguards for your information

We are a UK Charity who partners with many UK, EU and global Christian organisations with similar aims and ideals.

Information you provide us will normally remain in the UK or the European Economic Area (‘EEA’).

If we do transfer personal data outside of these territories, we will ensure that safeguards are implemented, including the use of standard contractual clauses, data transfer agreements and transfer risk assessments.

Who receives your information?

We may share your personal information with other contracted parties who carry out data processing on our behalf e.g., email service providers. Our contracts with them will always ensure your personal data remains safe and under the protection of the UK GDPR.

Where our legal obligations compel us, We will share your personal data with Competent Authorities e.g., UK Government, the Police force.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have important rights, including:

1. Your right of access: You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information. You can request if we are holding any of your personal data, and if we are, a copy of that data including information relevant to our use of your data. If you wish to request access to your data please use the contact information provided above
2. Your right to rectification: You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.
3. Your right to erasure: You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
4. Your right to restriction of processing: You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
5. Your right to object to processing: You have the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
6. Your right to data portability: You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.
7. If you have given your consent for us to process any of your personal information, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. Where we process your personal data for direct marketing on the basis of legitimate interests (including under the charitable purpose soft opt-in introduced by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025), you have the right to object to that processing at any time and we will stop sending you marketing communications.

We may need to request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity and ensure your right to access the information or to exercise any of your other rights. This helps us to ensure that personal data is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it. Depending on the circumstances, we may be unable to comply with your request based on other lawful grounds.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you with the information requested, or reasons why the request may be delayed.

If you have a complaint

You have the right to raise data protection concerns directly with us before contacting the ICO.

Submit your complaint via email or post (see contact details above). All individuals are welcome to complain, not just supporters, volunteers or employees.

On receipt of your complaint:

1. We will acknowledge receipt within 30 days
2. We will investigate reasonably and keep you informed of progress
3. We aim to provide an outcome within 3 months (unless exceptional circumstances apply)
4. You will receive our decision in plain, accessible language

If you’re dissatisfied with how your complaint was handled, you have the right to escalate your complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) after receiving our outcome.
